Which One Doesn’t Belong? Measuring Pencils

Look at a set of four pictures. Decide which one doesn’t belong with the other three. Use math words to describe your thinking. There are many ways to think about each one!

A. shows a red pencil as long as 9 colored tiles. B. shows a pink pencil measured from 0 to 4 inches on a ruler and a blue pencil measured from 4 to 8 inches. C. shows a green pencil measured from 0 to 5 and 1-half inches on a ruler. D. shows an orange pencil measured from 2 to 7 inches on a ruler.
