Which One Doesn't Belong? Penguin Problems

Look at this set of four pictures. Decide which one doesn’t belong with the other three. Use math words to describe your thinking. There are many ways to think about each one!

A: 7 blue penguins in a 10-frame. 3 green penguins next to the frame. 7 + blank = 10. B. 10 blue penguins in a 10-frame. 2 green penguins—crossed out—next to the frame. 12 minus 2 = blank. C: 6 blue penguins in a 10-frame. 3 green penguins next to the frame. 6 + 3 = blank. D: 5 blue penguins in a 10-frame. 3 green penguins and 2 red penguins next to the frame. 5 + 3 + 2 = blank.
