What’s the Rule to Be in the Circle?

Inside the circle: Expressions 10 + 8 and 10 + 4. A double 10-frame showing 10 blue dots and 6 red dots. A number rack showing 10 beads on the top row and 9 beads on the bottom row.   1. Some things belong in the circle, and some things do not. What is the rule to be in the circle?
  2. Which of these belong inside of the circle? Circle them. How do you know? (Hint: Think about the total!)
