What Comes Next? Pumpkin Pattern

First, a short, bumpy, green pumpkin. Next, a tall, smooth, orange pumpkin. Then a short, bumpy, green pumpkin. Next, a tall, smooth, orange pumpkin. Last, a short, bumpy, green pumpkin.
  1. What patterns do you see?
  2. What would come next? And then after that? Can you tell, or make a drawing to show those pumpkins?
  3. What kind of pattern is this? What can you do with your arms to make the same kind of pattern? What about your whole body? Show someone in your family and see whether they can copy you. Then have them do something different for you to copy.
  4. Make the same kind of pattern with toys, rocks, leaves, or food.
  5. Tell someone in your family about your pattern, and ask them what comes next!
